Universal Just And Action Society (UJAS) is a registered Non Governmental Organization based in Jodhpur. UJAS strives for protection of the rights and Read more development of marginalized segments of society including displaced communities focused on minority migrants from Pakistan who are staying in Rajasthan. UJAS Programme is embodied on range of thematic interventions including Health, Education, Shelter/Housing, Water, Sanitation, Livelihoods Development and Research, Policy & Advocacy. Under the interventional area of Livelihood Development, UJAS has initiated Wooden Handicrafts Cluster Jodhpur two years back with the support of  Udhyam Protsahan Sansthan and Department of Industries Government of Rajasthan. The details of the Wooden Handicrafts Cluster are as under:

Programs

  • Mitigate Climate Challenges

    Assist the targeted communities in advocating for, educating, and choosing other appropriate measures to ensure various kinds of adaptations to deal with the extreme climate of Rajasthan.

    Carrying out studies on numerous connected subjects, such as:

    Conventional groundwater recharging and rainwater collection.
    Methods to improve and scale up groundwater recharge and rainfall gathering techniques.
    Access to better water sources, sanitation facilities, and health and hygiene education and awareness.
    Growing organic food
    Use of solar energy and lighting as a reliable substitute for environmentally harmful energy sources.
    Stop deforestation and climate change, as well as the cutting down of trees for local fuel.

  • Ujas Crafts Center

    Supports refugee migrants in making and selling their crafts. A variety of crafts are available, such as those made of wood and wrought iron, brass, varied embroidery, cloth, patchwork, and quilting, stitching and needlework, tie and dye work, leather goods manufacturing, and both traditional and modern jewelry creation. Of the migrant workers' craft abilities listed above, four—wood, iron, leather, and embroidery work—are the most commonly practiced by them in the local handicraft market, where middlemen and exporters severely exploit them.
