Aaboho, a private nonprofit NGO (Trust), has dedicated over 11 years to delivering comprehensive services to marginalized communities, with a specific Read more emphasis on impoverished individuals, the elderly, and maternal and child healthcare. It conducts extensive research through field surveys, focus group discussions, and one-on-one interactions to drive social and economic development. Aaboho's goal is to promote social progress and development, ensuring universal access to affordable education, proper nutrition, timely healthcare, and sustainable livelihood opportunities. Collaborating with Governmental and non-governmental partners, Aaboho strives to maximize its reach and impact, working tirelessly to uplift the quality of life for some of society's most disadvantaged members. Its vision entails a more equitable society where individuals, families, and communities can fully enjoy their fundamental rights, seize opportunities, and unlock their potential and self-worth. Aaboho's mission is rooted in aiding the less fortunate and underprivileged segments of society, enhancing their overall quality of life, and fostering enduring positive changes in their physical, mental, and socio-economic well-being.

Programs

  • Maternal & Child Healthcare Programme

It focuses on enhancing maternal and child healthcare, along with providing healthcare services for the elderly. Aaboho achieves this by organising free health camps in various slum areas within Kolkata municipal zones, adjacent regions, and nearby villages. These health camps offer essential services, including basic health check-ups, medical treatments, blood sugar tests, and related healthcare services, all under the guidance of its dedicated medical professionals. Additionally, Aaboho extends support by distributing essential medicines to the participants of these health camps, ensuring improved access to healthcare for its beneficiaries.

  • Skill Development Programme

Aaboho's extensive social research has revealed a significant disparity between individuals' existing skills and the skills required by industries and workplaces. To address this gap, Aaboho targets individuals aged 18 to 35, assisting them in identifying their strengths and skills, and subsequently offering training to enhance these skills. Once the training is completed, Aaboho extends placement support to qualified candidates. This process involves collaborating with various companies, organisations, or individuals to align job opportunities with the skill sets of the candidates at hand, ensuring a smoother transition into the workforce.

  • Education Programme

Aaboho places a strong emphasis on providing education to underprivileged children, recognizing that education plays a pivotal role in breaking the cycle of poverty and improving their daily lives. In many cases, poverty has led children to drop out of school and contribute to their family's income. Aaboho's mission is to support these children by offering counselling and educational assistance, ensuring they have the opportunity to receive consistent and proper education, thus preventing school dropout.

  • Disaster Relief Programme

Aaboho offers disaster assistance and emergency relief to individuals and families facing significant damage due to sudden natural disasters or emergencies. Tailoring its response to the specific nature and magnitude of the crisis, Aaboho provides critical resources such as food aid, supplemental nutrition for infants and children, hygiene and sanitation kits, as well as essential medical supplies and medicines, ensuring that those affected receive the necessary support during these challenging times.

  • Survey & Research Programme

It engages in surveys and research, primarily focusing on health and livelihood. By conducting thorough social research and surveys, Aaboho assesses needs, conducts baseline, mid-line, and end-line studies, and evaluates the requirements of specific communities. This ongoing engagement with communities enables it to assist them in making informed and sustainable choices related to health and livelihood improvement.
