Located in the heart of Kolkata, this 210-bed facility offers specialized programs in neurology, neurosurgery, neuro-rehabilitation, and neuropsychiatry for both adults and children. As a premier centre for neurosurgical and related treatments in Eastern India, I-NK was established with the vision of delivering comprehensive care modelled on the standards of NIMHANS in Bangalore. The foundation stone was laid on November 15, 2005, marking the beginning of this unique facility where the "art of healing the brain, spine, and mind is practised with a human touch.

It conducts bench-to-bedside research to bridge the translational gap in neurosciences. A close partnership with the Movement Laboratory at Newcastle University, UK, enhances these efforts through the sharing of ideas, resources, and technology, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations.
The core mission is to unravel disease mechanisms for precision diagnosis and to develop effective therapeutic interventions that improve movement, mobility, and overall quality of life for affected individuals.

StateThe Department of Neurology, supported by a dedicated team of specialists, focuses on the evaluation and treatment of brain, spine, nerve, and muscle disorders. The institute offers world-class care for conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, headaches, epilepsy, neuropathy, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological disorders.
Regular subspecialty clinics, including Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Clinic, Epilepsy Clinic, and Stroke Clinic, ensure focused care. Advanced treatment options such as thrombolysis for stroke, deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease, and Botox injections for spasticity and dystonia are provided. The department is also equipped with a state-of-the-art neuro-electrophysiology lab for Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), Electromyography (EMG), and Electroencephalogram (EEG) investigations.
