Kolkata Sanved, a women-led organisation, pioneers Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) to heal trauma and empower marginalized groups, especially survivors o Read moref sex trafficking and gender-based violence. Through partnerships across India and South Asia, it promotes holistic well-being and quality of life. Sampoornata, meaning fulfillment, is Kolkata Sanved’s innovative DMT program addressing mental health, gender equality, and livelihood development. It adapts DMT to Indian contexts, making it accessible to care institutions and marginalized communities. Creatively using dance and movement, it helps survivors reclaim agency over their bodies and emotions, voice their rights, and access opportunities for economic independence. The organisation aims to establish a Centre of Excellence on DMT by 2020 to further its vision of a violence-free, gender-equal society.

Dance Movement Therapy Sessions
Kolkata Sanved conducts Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) sessions in collaboration with Government departments, NGOs, and community-based organizations. These sessions, held in childcare institutions and specially designed for the Indian context, aim to empower marginalized communities, including survivors of gender-based violence and at-risk youth. The unique Sampoornata model not only heals but also encourages participants to become DMT practitioners, fostering a cycle of transformation within society. Sessions include both regular group sessions lasting 2 to 3 hours weekly and monthly workshops, with a focus on empowering individuals to become agents of change.

Dance Movement Therapy Leadership Development (DMTLD) Programme
Kolkata Sanved's Dance Movement Therapy Leadership Development (DMTLD) programme empowers marginalized individuals to become certified Therapeutic Movement Practitioners, fostering their journey towards becoming DMT Practitioners themselves. Through experiential DMT sessions, theoretical classes on mental health and DMT, and practical internships, participants gain valuable skills and an alternative employment avenue. More than just livelihood creation, DMTLD embodies Kolkata Sanved's belief that survivors possess the potential to emerge as leaders and advocates for transformative DMT practices within their communities.
