Within its walls lie an extensive collection of stone, wood, and bronze sculptures, ancient terracotta, Stone Age relics, jewellery, paintings, oil lamps, musical instruments, tribal and folk art, woodwork, utensils, masks, and traditional art forms, totalling around 4000 diverse artefacts. This exceptional cultural initiative aims to impart art education to students and provide visual and academic enlightenment to art enthusiasts, researchers, and global travellers alike.

Museum Architecture
The Kerala Folklore Museum is an expansive architectural gallery comprising the reconstruction of 25 traditional heritage buildings from various regions of Kerala. This monumental installation, created with the collaboration of 62 traditional carpenters over 7.5 years, represents the three distinct architectural schools of Kerala: Malabar, Cochin, and Travancore. From wooden flooring to roofing tiles, it offers a comprehensive showcase of traditional architectural elements, allowing visitors to delve into the rich heritage of Kerala's construction styles. Explore the intricacies of stone lamps, cast iron gates, temple doors, Mughayamam, wooden pavilions, houses, Mughappu (Kodi), and side elevations of traditional wooden structures within its walls, providing a unique educational experience for architecture enthusiasts.

Museum Collection
Kerala Folklore Museum houses a diverse collection of antiques, each narrating the rich tapestry of history, traditions, and cultural distinctions across India, with a particular focus on South India. Among its treasures are the elaborate costumes used in dance forms such as Mohiniattam and Theyyam, along with an abundance of antique items, including the oldest known Bible. The museum also preserves ancient writing instruments and a collection of antique chairs, all of which provide a captivating glimpse into the heritage and diversity of the region.

Kerala Folklore Museum offers a charming Spice Art Cafe, providing visitors with a quaint heritage ambience. Within this cafe, a Kitchen Museum accompanies the coffee shop, showcasing a remarkable collection of age-old kitchen utensils, ceramics, crockeries, potteries, and traditional equipment once used in Kerala's ancient kitchens. This educational display serves as a valuable resource for both visitors and students.
