  • Livelihood Programme

    District

    The Trust's Livelihoods programme provides girls with access to information, skills, and opportunities, improving their understanding of equality, supporting their employability, and informing them about support for good health. The programme has been successful in increasing girls' knowledge of their rights, improving their employment prospects, and reducing their risk of exploitation.
    The British Asian Trust is committed to empowering adolescent girls in India and ensuring that they have the opportunity to reach their full potential. The livelihoods programme is an important part of this work.

  • Conservation Programme

    District

    The British Asian Trust works to conserve wildlife and their habitats. It works with multiple partners to protect endangered species, such as the tiger, rhino and elephant, and to restore damaged habitats. The Trust's conservation activities in India include supporting the creation of protected areas, working with local communities, conducting research, and raising awareness.   • Education Programme

    In partnership with the Government of India, the Trust has launched a dollar 11 million Development Impact Bond (DIB) to support the roll-out of a new education model. The model focuses on improving teacher training, providing better learning materials, and strengthening school management. The DIB is expected to reach over 200,000 children in India.
    Its education activities in India also include building new schools, providing scholarships to students, supporting teacher training, developing new teaching methods, and promoting education for girls. The Trust is committed to ensuring that all children have access to a good education, regardless of their background.

  • Child Protection Programme

    The Trust works with a range of partners to provide support to children who have been exploited or abused, and to prevent child exploitation and abuse from happening in the first place. Its child protection activities in India include providing support to children who have been exploited or abused, including counselling, medical care, and legal assistance, working with communities to raise awareness of child exploitation and abuse, building support for child protection initiatives and advocating for changes to laws and policies that will better protect children from exploitation and abuse.
