Gram Vikas Vidya Vihar School is a residential school for students from Grades 3 to 7. The 152 students who attend are mostly first-generation tribal Read morelearners. The school also has a center developed by students, called the Navonmesh Prayogshala. This center, initiated by mechanical engineer Sameer Kumar Misra, encourages students to develop creative projects and solve real problems faced by villagers using a scientific approach. The students work in groups of 5 to build models of scientific innovations, called Pariklap. The aim of this center is to instill a love for science, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills in these students, so that they can create models that benefit their villages. Because of this innovation lab, the school has become a model for other government schools. The lab has also resulted in a collaboration with the Pratham Education Foundation, through which it conducted workshops on making models of the biological system.
