Rotary Blood Bank aims to establish a regular and safe supply of blood for blood transfusions in Delhi. Its project We Care works to provide child Read moreren with thalassemia with the blood they need for transfusion. Thus, it has adopted many children with thalassemia and provides them with blood free of cost. Young 25 Club, another initiative of the Rotary Blood Bank, aims to reduce the scarcity of blood and works to ensure safe blood is available at all times by motivating young volunteers from colleges, universities, and other educational institutes to regularly donate blood. The project is based on Club 25 or “Pledge 25″, a Philippine National Red Cross Youth Department project, which was established to recruit young volunteers who pledged to donate blood regularly. The Red Cross Pledge 25 started in Zimbabwe in 1989 to target an untapped pool of low-risk donors. Now "Club 25″ has spread around the world. In New Delhi, students 18 years or older can join Young 25 Club as a Member or as a Resource Person. Rotary Blood Bank provides support and motivational material to assist the Resource Persons in mobilizing students to become members of the Club. Each member of "Club 25" takes a pledge to donate blood at least twice a year, regularly until he or she is 25 years old or has donated blood 25 times. The organization also hosts events to raise awareness for blood donation. Its Walk for Blood in New Delhi involved more than 6,000 students and over 600 Rotary members. Various celebrities also participated in this event. It also hosted a "Thanks Giving Function" to extend gratitude to Rotary members and to organizers of Blood Donation Camps.
