M Venkatarangaiya Foundation through its programmes works towards universalisation of education and abolition of all forms of child labor. The foun Read moredation follows an area based approach which focuses on protection of the rights of all children and ensuring that all of them attend full time formal schools. Also, for children who are school drop-out cases and are involved in a labour based activity, the foundation structures a specific plan to rescue them from forced labour and make arrangements for them to be integrated into schools. Further, for those children who are already in schools, it plans to ensure that they are retained in school and continue their education without any disruption. For achieving its objective the foundation uses the Consensus building and Mobilisation Approach which includes initiatives such as holding of public meetings, rallies, marches and utilising every public function to highlight the child rights issue. In addition to this, the foundation conducts conferences with members of gram panchayats, women’s groups and youth groups. It further conducts induction of teachers through trainings and provides support to infrastructural and institutional structures in the villages. Additionally, it uses street theatre, child-to-child campaigns and use of children as resource persons to address specific issues.
