Mentor Me India conducts a mentoring program which aims at empowering children from low-income communities by matching them with strong role models. T Read morehe program comprises of one-on-one child and mentor interaction, parent interaction and orientation, child orientation and mentor training sessions. The organisation provides the children with mentors who inspire them, believe in them and guide them. Further, it also conducts training programmes and ensures on-going support to the mentors with an objective to improve their mentoring capabilities. Additionally, the organisation recruits both male and female graduates through its corporate partners, social media outlets, alumni groups and personal networks and collaborates with various non-profit organisations to identify other institutions and schools in low-income communities where students could benefit most from having a mentor. Also, the mentors participate in a four-hour orientation sessions prior to meeting their students. Apart from this, the organisation also conducts a mid year training session which covers topics related to roles and responsibilities of a mentor, handling difficult situations and designing mentoring sessions. Further, the minimum requirement for the mentor and student interaction is for them to meet for six hours per month on average. These interactions include activities such as taking a walk in a nearby park, doing an arts and crafts project, reading a book together or interacting with parents. In addition to this, after every 2 months the organisation plans group sessions for the mentors and students at the centres. Activities are planned around the curriculum and include skits, songs, goal setting, discussions and conflict resolution. Also, the organisation consistently collects feedback from the mentors, students, parents and the schools to understand any issue that might have surfaced and identify areas of improvement for the program.
