1999
Gopabandhu Seva Parisad (GSP), established in 1999-2000 by a collective of socially-driven individuals, has grown from shared ideology and collaborati Read moreve efforts. Prior to its formal beginning, the founding members of GSP were actively engaged with different professional groups across Odisha, united by a common goal of addressing local needs effectively. GSP's early focus lay in disaster response along the coastal districts of Odisha, complemented by a commitment to empowering local communities and promoting women's advancement at grassroots levels. By 2005, GSP's volunteer network had expanded, encompassing various thematic areas with an emphasis on empowerment, rights-based practices, sustainable ecosystem development, biodiversity conservation, capacity building, and good governance. Both in terms of programmes and geographical reach, GSP has seen substantial growth. As of 2010, GSP's operational framework became more structured, catering to diverse client groups while forging connections at local, state, and national levels to address grassroots issues effectively. GSP envisions a self-reliant society devoid of violence, injustice, abuse, stigma, and discrimination. With a mission centred on empowering marginalized communities, particularly women, children, and vulnerable segments, GSP strives for social security, sustainable growth, human rights protection, advocacy, campaigns, direct interventions, and outreach activism. Through its journey, GSP exemplifies the power of collaboration, local empowerment, and dedicated pursuit of a just and equitable society.
