The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly Social Economic Life Development Association (SELDA) is a vital arm of the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly Read more, formerly known as the KJP Synod, a prominent church body in the North Eastern Region of India, boasting a membership exceeding 400,000. Established as an NGO in 1974 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, SELDA operates as a non-profit, non-governmental organization under the auspices of the KJP Assembly. Its mission revolves around fostering holistic development in the economic and social spheres for the residents of East and West Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, and Ri-Bhoi districts of Meghalaya. VISION ’21: SELDA envisions a future where every individual, regardless of background, experiences the fullness of life through comprehensive human development. This holistic approach encompasses the physical, spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional facets of each person, fostering the evolution of personalities nurtured by the grace of God through Jesus Christ. MISSION ’21: Recognizing that health promotion, education, and moral values form the backbone of a vibrant society, SELDA is committed to embedding these principles across all its endeavors. Its mission is to instill these values in every aspect of its activities. The KJP Assembly, through SELDA, aims to empower and capacitate the communities it serves, particularly focusing on the women of the region. It seeks to raise awareness on essential topics such as healthcare, nutrition, sustainable livelihoods, and universal education. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of fostering a sense of equality and partnership among all stakeholders in the development process. Additionally, SELDA is dedicated to fostering awareness and understanding among the people of the region and the state of Meghalaya, emphasizing that holistic development must ultimately lead to a state of just peace (shalom).

  • ANNIE WOSENCRAFT THOMAS GIRL's HOME

    The home has supported and taken care of more than 500 children's physical, mental, moral, spiritual and economic development needs.

  • NEW HOPE DE ADDICTION CENTRE

    The Center is addressing the issues of drug and alcohol misuse by implementing preventive programs through the application of the Community-based Approach. Carries out awareness and outreach campaigns around drug abuse.

    People impacted by drugs or alcohol can receive counselling and advisory services from New Hope Center. Among them are

    Alcohol and drug abusers as well as prospective users
    relatives and parents of alcoholics and drug addicts.
    those who are just as impacted by the issues.

  • Working Women Hostel

    Applications for admission to the Working Women Hostel, Mission Compound, Meghalaya, Shillong are being accepted by the Working Women Hostel Management. The applicants must be working women or students seeking higher education from various districts in Meghalaya as well as other areas of the country and region.

  • WILLIAM LEWIS BOYS HOME

    The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly established the William Lewis Boys Home in Mawphlang through S.E.L.D.A. to support boys who are orphans and require assistance with parental care. It seeks to guarantee complete protection from abuse, exploitation, and neglect in all of its manifestations. God has given the Church the idea to create a home for orphans who cannot satisfy their basic needs for food, clothes, housing, and education through the Social Economic Life Development Association of the KJP Assembly.
