Khel Khel Me Foundation is actively involved in motivating children to adopt sports as a way of life. It aspires to teach life skills to the children Read morethrough the medium of sports. It is currently working with two communities to involve physical education in schools through its coaches. The coaches introduce the concept of free play and teach movement skills within the physical education schedule, this enables the children to appreciate specific sports and take it up on a more serious way in future. It also works on an after-school model which is a nine year intervention. This model is known as a Long Term Athlete Development model and aims to develop children into full-fledged athletes. They are given information on sporting excellence, injury prevention, recovery, diet awareness & tracking, mental health, video analysis, performance reports and high quality competitive exposure. It holds the KKM league where children can participate in a sport of choice like football, Athletics, Kho-Kho and Surr. Through this league the children are taught the concept of “Power of choice” wherein there different choices of actions on the playground is converted into a lesson of life and shown to prove that good choices impact the game positively and its similarity in situations in life. Through a mentorship programme the organisation partners with schools interested in including sports into their curriculum, Sports mentors expose children to participatory sports and are encouraged to take part in the KKM league. It encourages sports as a developmental model and implemented this in a Himalayan school imparting training for team and individual sports, making sports a part of curriculum, build equality between genders in the area of sports, inculcate self-awareness, health and behaviour, good mind-sets through sports. It plans to develop community leaders for sustainability of its programmes, push for a long term grass roots sport policy and coach development.
