MasterG is working to skill women in the art of pattern making, the stage in fashion designing before the actual cloth is stitched, to empower them to Read more find employment in the apparel industry and get sustainable livelihoods. It aims to release women from the mind-set of being treated as secondary decision makers after their male counterparts. Its training programme prepares women to focus on problem solving and finding solutions to existing problems in different methods. The trainers are carefully chosen by MasterG and are graduates from national and international schools of fashion. Traditional apparel makers or tailors more popularly known as “MasterJis” are also roped in to teach this male dominated art to the women trainees. The trainees are exposed to both managerial and emotional competencies. Students are taught to adapt to current fashion trends and make appropriate modifications to their patterns, learn to think differently and find innovative solutions to issues, look at themselves as leaders who inspire others in the community and discourage gender inequality. Through Its system of Gscore, Trainees are graded on performance and expertise, socio emotional aspects, learning from others, participation in class and engagement and their leadership qualities. MasterG trains the women under the All Women Ecosystems with Sustainable Operations and Management (AWESOM). This curriculum is specifically designed to make the students skilled in technical design, pattern making, stitching, cutting, sampling, merchandising and packaging besides developing their expertise in industry standards and processing large quantity orders. Through Its venture “Heimat” It is offering modern dress designs to the public. It maintains an online website to display the clothing where the product can be ordered and purchased. It offers partnerships with NGO’s and corporates aiming to empower women in the art of pattern making, helping NGO’s involved in running tailoring programmes by providing training guides, offers services of Its staff to design patterns for an entrepreneur who wishes to mass market apparel, conducting online classes in pattern making.
