Srujna works to bring prosperity to poor women by employing them in manufacturing good quality products and ensuring market linkage to get them sold. Read more It works with women groups that manufacture utility products like textiles, jewellery, food and handicrafts. Srujna skills and trains these women over a three to four-year period to transform informal women’s groups into a formal and profitable production unit. To enable the manufactured products to be sold, It finds new markets and creates awareness amongst the general public through the promotion of handmade products, participating in exhibitions, selling on e-commerce and retail modes, selling in bulk to large buyers etc. All these activities are aimed to help underprivileged women find sustenance and also ensure a steady stream of orders for handmade products. Srujna has received many recognitions for Its work on uplifting the lives of poor women: • Potential for largest social impact by Rotary Club of Seattle. • Five business plan competition pan India by institutions such as IIT Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, NSDC and FIIB. • India sustainability award of Merit by World CSR Day & World Sustainability. • Founders received awards such as 51 most impactful social innovator (globally), Naari Shakti Award & Tejasvini Award. • Inspire Award 2016 by Brit Worldwide. • Featured in leading newspapers such as DNA, Hindustan Times, Afternoon DC, Bombay Times, and Vogue magazine for the work done.

Programs

  • Livelihood Programme

    Srujna trains women from low-income families in the trades of textiles, jewellery, food and handicrafts also exposing them to leadership, business insight, financial skills and soft skills. It makes efforts to find out markets for the products made by the women by promoting them, creating catalogues, finding large orders, conducting exhibitions and raising awareness of handmade products among the public.

  • Healthcare Programme

    The organisation takes care of the healthcare of its women through conducting regular complete body and eye check-ups besides creating awareness of menstrual hygiene and distributing sanitary pads among them.

  • Education Programmes

    Women who want to achieve further independence and realise their dreams are given opportunities to train themselves in English speaking, digital literacy, financial literacy, leadership training, sales training, office assistant training, tally accounting and product development.

  • Awareness Programme

    Srujna also seeks to empower women by generating awareness among them about domestic violence and encouraging them to learn self-defence making them informed and confident to face life.
