IDIA is an initiative that began as a student-led movement. It aims to empower underprivileged students by identifying their potential in the field of Read more law and providing them with expansive training for law entrance exams, typically spanning 1-2 years. The project relies on passionate student volunteers from various law schools, who tirelessly travel across India to discover talented individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. These selected students undergo a rigorous programme focused on excelling in prominent law entrance examinations like CLAT and AILET. However, its mission extends beyond securing admissions for these deserving students; it strives to develop exceptional lawyers and advocates for their communities. Consequently, it implements a comprehensive training and mentorship scheme, nurturing each IDIA Scholar's potential. Additionally, upon gaining admission to prestigious law schools, it facilitates sponsorships, scholarships, and mentorship opportunities to support the scholars in realizing their full capabilities. Ultimately, it aspires to cultivate extraordinary legal professionals who make a substantial positive impact on the world. Special leadership programmes and techniques are periodically imparted to scholars and volunteers, enhancing their abilities and contributions.

Public Interest Lawyering At IDIA
StateP-PIL, initiated by the late Professor (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer, emerged as an informal network of lawyers and law students. Its purpose was to advance public interest goals through the legal system. What set P-PIL apart from other public interest organisations was its collaborative approach, pairing law students and lawyers to work together towards common public interest objectives. The initiative aimed to bridge the significant gap between legal academia and the legal profession in India, providing practical learning experiences to law students who often lacked exposure to hands-on training during their time in law school.
