The Forum for Policy Dialogue On Water Conflicts in India is working to understand water conflicts in different regions of the country with an aim to Read moredocument, inform and create awareness through online media and trying to find solutions to the conflict. It believes that documentation and recording of conflicts around water are important to understand the nature of the conflict, to this end, the Forum had sent out a call for papers and submissions have been received and would be compiled in the form of a book and published. It is maintaining the website https://waterconflictforum.org/ to spread awareness and information about water conflicts among the public. The public is invited and encouraged to write to the Forum about different issues related to water. It regularly publishes the Mahanadi Basin Newsletter as part of Its activities to establish and keep alive constant connection between stakeholders in the Mahanadi basin. Partnering with WaterAid India, It prepared a campaign around right to water and sanitation in India. To bring communities and stakeholders together the Forum organises workshops and sessions among state representatives. It takes up training young researchers about water conflicts besides training legal professionals on the legal aspect of such conflicts. It also takes up interns who can work on the topic of water on their own interest or work for the Forum on different activities. Besides the core activity of water conflicts the Forum is also active in researching into the aspects of right to water and sanitation, agriculture and industrial allocation and use, environmental flows within river basins and conflicts and competition around groundwater resources. It has set up a separate unit in Kerala state to resolve and document conflicts around the Chalakudy river. This unit also acted as and on action research towards resolving upstream downstream conflicts in chalakudy river basin, resource centre for documentation and outreach, creation of space for dialogue and negotiation on active conflicts and assist legal and policy intervention on water conflicts.
