Dignity Foundation works to bring back the joy of living productively to senior citizens. It promotes its concept of productive ageing which includes Read morecontributing to life, through engaging in purposeful activities, contributing to the community, by involving in paid work, voluntary service, education, fitness, leisure and travel and contributing to society by participating in advocacy and political action. The Foundation through various programmes tries to address the lack of infrastructure to care for the elderly, abuse and neglect at home and loneliness which is prevalent due to the formation of nuclear families and the young preferring to go abroad in search of a living.

The Dignity Foundation has impacted senior citizens by distributing 6189 ration kits in six cities, sheltering 272 members at 4 loneliness mitigation centres, 234 members at 3 day-care centres and 40 members at 4 dementia day-care centres besides hosting 1136 memberships at 20+ chai masti centres.

Programs

  • Monthly Ration Kit For Elderly Poor

    It provides monthly ration kits to the elderly poor living in urban slums.

  • Dignity Care Programme

    The Foundation runs day-care, loneliness mitigation and dementia care centres under its daily care programme. Through these centres, it tries to encourage social interaction, conducts skilling and craft sessions, promotes physical well-being through yoga, meditation and prayers and encourages participation in competitions and performing arts to enhance confidence in the senior citizens under its care.

  • Dignity Dialogues

    Is the Foundations monthly magazine offering articles by domain experts, suggesting ways of using time productively and also giving companies serving the elderly an opening to post advertisements.

    It is the oldest magazine catering to senior citizens and has encouraged many elders to pursue various skills and do well in life

  • Dignity Helpline

    To address elder abuse the Foundation initiated its Dignity helpline which coordinates with the local police to rescue elders from abuse and provide counselling and emotional support. It also maintains a team of legal experts who provide judicial advice to the elders.

    Through a team of trained volunteers, the foundation also provides companionship support to lonely, suicidal, depressed and bed-ridden elders.

  • Dignity Chai Masti Centres

    The Foundation runs its Chai Masti centres which enable elderly people to come together, share their experiences and express their talents and hobbies with each other. The centres facilitate social interaction, skill building and provide a platform to display talents.

    There are 24 Chai Masti centres across the cities of Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Pune, Kolkata and Bangalore.

  • Dignity Performing Arts

    The Dignity Performing Arts platform provides senior citizens with a stage to showcase their talents and skills in performing arts. Along with a physical stage the forum now also has a dedicated youtube channel dedicated to bringing the performance of senior citizens to the public.
