CBM India is an organisation that strives towards creating a society where people with disabilities can achieve their full potential without any form Read moreof discrimination. Its objective is to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and other marginalized communities by promoting inclusive and sustainable development to break the cycle of poverty and disability. The organisation's key goals include empowering individuals with disabilities, creating strong and supportive communities, setting up sustainable and inclusive systems and services, reducing the occurrence of diseases that cause impairments, reducing the conditions that lead to disability and ensuring access to inclusive humanitarian assistance and protection during disasters. CBM India works together with people with disabilities, their representative organisations, community-based organisations, institutions, and various levels of Government to achieve these goals.

Programs

  • Inclusive Education Programme

    CBM India promotes inclusive education for disabled underprivileged children. It aims to break physical, attitudinal and informational hurdles to provide fair learning opportunities. The programme trains teachers to create an inclusive environment and provides handy courses and set-ups. It also has programmes for early identification and intervention for children with disabilities.

  • Inclusive Health Programmes

    It provides complete primary healthcare to all, with a focus on marginalized populations and people with disabilities. It works with the Ministry of Health and is part of national programmes for blindness control. Its healthcare programme includes interventions for hearing, mental health, and physical impairments. It aims to prevent disabilities and reduce disease prevalence.

  • Inclusive Livelihood Programmes

    CBM India provides equal access to sustainable livelihood opportunities with fair pay and dignified work to the specially-abled. It removes barriers and helps them reach their full potential by developing locally relevant livelihood systems and supporting income improvements. CBM India also builds sustainable, inclusive community organizations like Organisations of Persons with Disabilities and Inclusive Farmer Producer Organisations.

  • Humanitarian Response Programme

    CBM India works to reduce the impact of disasters on affected communities, particularly those with disabilities. It has developed an app-based tool called HHoT that provides a step-by-step guide on how to implement a complete emergency response. Its work includes ensuring the full inclusion and participation of persons with disabilities in disaster preparedness and response, promoting community spirit and providing relief and rehabilitation.
