Theory of Change

Bhavada Devi Memorial Philanthropic Trust is working for ameliorating the untold sufferings of Destitute Old Women who have no one in the World to look after , they have no shelter or any means of livelihood.. The Trust is running a home “SENEH” for such women at Kahilipara , Guwahati. Most of the women are picked up from the streets and all of them suffered from myriads of diseases some with mental disorders and severe schizophrenia. A society can not be called a civilized if such women are increasing on the streets and there is no one to care for them. Though they are destitute, they also have the right to get a decent life to live. So the society has a sacred duty to care for them. As a society our trust is trying to take care of those women as far as possible.

Milestones & Track Record

As per our mission the destitute old women home "Seneh" was established in 2011 with 4 women by the trust in a small building.
Now we are sheltering 28 destitute women with all the facilities and they are living a dignified life.
Since last few years we are regularly making health camps for adolescent girls and distributing sanitary napkins to more than 300 girls in very remote areas through a project "Surabhi" with donations from different organisations.
We are also offering free tea and snacks and mid day meal to attendants of cancer patients of Dr. B. Baruah Cancer Hospital for the last three years.
During the last pandemic and flood with help from Give India and others we distributed free groceries and food to several thousands families in remote areas.
We are also giving scholarships to meritorious girl students of a rural school in remote area.
