The Amrita Devi Foundation, established in 2019, operates as a registered trust under the Indian Trust Act 1882. Its primary mission is to support Ski Read morell Development and Generate Employment Opportunities for girls and women in Uttarakhand, India. The foundation seeks to address the challenge of migration from the hills of Uttarakhand by providing enhanced skill development opportunities for women, enabling them to secure employment within the state and improve their quality of life without relocating to cities. The Foundation actively engages in employment and livelihood initiatives, with a particular focus on women from remote areas in Uttarakhand. Through the Amrita Devi Women's Skill Development Institute, four institutes have been established in rural areas of District Almora. These institutes offer courses such as Computer Operator, Digital Marketing, and Tailoring, empowering women to attain self-reliance. Acquiring these skills not only enables women to support themselves but also contributes to their family's financial well-being, allowing them to remain in their villages. In 2022, the Foundation expanded its scope with the establishment of Amrita Devi Earth Care, focusing on Environmental Initiatives. The aim is to create a Sustainable Future for Uttarakhand by nurturing the environment, providing employment opportunities to local communities, and promoting the health and wellbeing of villagers. Key initiatives under this wing include the "Smokeless Chulha" and "Afforestation" programs. The efforts of the Amrita Devi Foundation focus on empowering women through Skill Development, promoting sustainable practices, and creating employment opportunities in Uttarakhand. By addressing these aspects, the Foundation aims to counter the trend of migration from the hills and rejuvenate rural areas, ensuring a better future for the people of Uttarakhand.
