Pragati is a Non-Profit organisation that provides free primary education to the children from the marginalized section in the millennium city of Gurg Read moreaon, Haryana, India. Its mission is to provide underprivileged children with an opportunity to make wider choices through high-quality education and life skills training. This relentless effort in the field of education was recognized by Grant Thornton Bharat Sabera where Pragati bagged the Marginalised Education in the Millennium City Award at the GT Sabera Awards 2020. Pragati took birth in 2002 when a few passionate volunteers started holding classes under a tree in a small park with 10 students. Today, in association with the Haryana Government Education department, it provides education to 440+ children through three primary schools and has impacted the lives of more than 10000+ children & adults in the community. Pragati’s uniqueness lies in its being a ‘walk-in’ school with an open-door policy. All children are granted admission, even those · with fractured education, · no identification papers or · no previous educational records. Aligning with the UN SDG #4 on quality education, Pragati has also committed to provide · Free holistic primary education from Nursery to Grade 5. · Free uniform – summer & winter · Books, Notebooks & Stationery supplies · Dietary Supplements like eggs, fruits & milk to the Mid-day meal scheme · Nutrition Supplements as Monthly Ration packets for the family With the help of dedicated volunteers and educators, Pragati has counselled and encouraged the parent community to send their wards to school. This tireless persistence has ensured that our enrolment rate has doubled in the last five years and the student drop-out rate has significantly reduced. Despite the challenges thrown by the global pandemic, Pragati has stood by its commitment to provide holistic quality education to underprivileged children. The support of donors and corporate sponsors ensured uninterrupted education as our schools transitioned seamlessly into a Virtual learning mode during this period – a step towards decreasing the digital gap. This turbulent phase also saw Pragati fulfilling its responsibility towards its parent community by providing them financial aid and organizing food distribution drives. In our passion to make a difference in the community around us, we involve individuals to give back to society and corporates to achieve their CSR goals. Over the 20 years of its existence, Pragati’s deep commitment to the cause has not wavered and its transparent & ethical conduct has attracted individuals and institutions to be part of its journey.

Pragati operates three school buildings in Gurgaon: Arcade, Max, and Vatika. They offer formal primary education from Nursery to Class 5, with class sizes ranging from 15 to 30 students. The school has 15 permanent teachers and over 40 volunteers, resulting in a student-teacher ratio of 20:1.
Each school comprises three classrooms within the building and four classrooms in partially covered sheds outside. All classrooms are furnished with tables, chairs, blackboards, and soft boards. The school premises include an open ground for children to play, a small store housing essential items like books, bags, uniforms, and stationery for distribution. Donated library books and art materials are kept in small cupboards. Additionally, each school features a computer lab that can accommodate 25 students at a time.
Filtered water is provided to all, and tea is available for the staff. The kitchen occasionally supplies meals for the children when needed, as the midday meal is now distributed cen
