    Yuwa School, established by Rose Thomson in 2015, serves as a leading institution that equips girls with essential skills to become empowered individuals, explore their own identities, and prepare for university education in India and overseas. The school caters to girls aged 6 to 18, offering English-medium education delivered by educators from both India and abroad. The students also receive valuable support from a committed group of volunteers, contributing to their holistic development and academic success.

Impact

Of the 50 girls who have completed Grade 12 since 2019, 40 were offered full scholarships to competitive universities including Ashoka, Krea, Azim Premji and Harvard. Thirty-five young women from these villages now earn an income coaching Yuwa teams, having started as players themselves. And a girl who began on a Yuwa village team went on to finish as top scorer for India at the 2025 SAFF U-17 Women’s Championship. All of them grew up in these villages, and all of them are known there, which is what changes what the next family expects for its own daughter.

Yuwa's mission is to enable girls to reach their full potential and break the cycle of poverty permanently by providing them tools and support to take control of their own lives.
