Parasparam Trust

Here at Parasparam Trust, we run a shelter in a small village in Tamil Nadu called Batlagondu, where underprivileged, semi-orphaned girls and homeless Read more animals (cats and dogs) live together. We offer food, clothing, education and vocational skills to the girls who live here and provide medical treatment and shelter to stray or injured cats and dogs. Parasparam Trust (parasparam meaning ‘natural’ in Tamil) started in 1993 as a small shelter for homeless cats and dogs by M/s VIjayalakshmi Raghavan, a dedicated animal lover. Today, our hostel takes care of around 100 girls and around 45 homeless or injured cats and dogs. We equip these girls with skills to help them succeed in life, in subjects such as screen-printing, tailoring, basic accounting and beauty treatment. Once they are educated and employed, we find a suitable partner for them and even sponsor the marriage ceremony. We also organise regular medical camps, prayer sessions and meditation assemblies for the girls and the neighbourhood.
