Adolescent Learning Communities Programme
EMpower initiated the Adolescent Girls Learning Community in Mumbai in 2012, followed by another in Delhi in 2017. These communities bring together grantee partner organisations, mentors, and girls to empower them as change-makers. Coordinated by local partners and supported by EMpower, the communities foster joint action and support for girl leadership. Operating on a one-year to 18-month cycle, it provides a platform for girls to overcome barriers, develop leadership skills, and create positive change. EMpower facilitates collaboration and provides resources for the communities. Through mentorship and a supportive network, girls enhance their personal and educational development.

Girls Advisory Council Programme
The Girls Advisory Council (GAC) is an initiative by EMpower, launched in 2018, that places girls at the forefront of its work in India. Comprising adolescent girl leaders, the council advises on EMpower's grantmaking strategy and ways to meet the specific needs of girls. EMpower firmly believes that girls are experts in their own lives and have the potential to lead and drive change. The Girls Advisory Council embodies this belief by actively involving girls in decision-making processes. EMpower invited each of its grantee partner organisations focused on adolescent girls in India, spanning Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, to nominate a representative to participate in the council. These 16 adolescent girl members provide insights on creating opportunities, addressing barriers, and enhancing girls' chances of success.
