Re : Collect India Programme
Re: Collect India is a Citizen Archivist project that aims to preserve India's scientific legacy by collecting stories and experiences of the first generation of scientists, engineers, and technicians in free India. Led primarily by young people, the project seeks to capture India's rich history of science, technology, and engineering through interviews, object documentation, and public engagement. The conversations between young volunteers (Citizen Archivists) and the Heritage Bearers will be recorded and published as an online archive, while volunteers will also transcribe these interviews to create a valuable resource. The project will also identify and document scientific objects of historical value, potentially forming the basis for a future science museum. The contributions of Citizen Archivists will be showcased on a curated website, highlighting the unique Indian experience for public audiences. There may also be opportunities for physical exhibitions of its work.
