Varitra Foundation is a grassroots-based organisation working on strengthening the quality and delivery of education in government schools through inn Read moreovative solutions. Over the past 4 years, Varitra has been benefiting more than 5000 children in Karnal district, Haryana through - Remedial-learning - Our remedial learning classes use age-appropriate innovative teaching-learning methods to enhance children’s literacy and numeracy experience. Varitra reaches out to approximately 682 children through its learning centres. Our key activities under this initiative are: Remedial classes for 4th & 5th-grade students , English & Math activity-based learning & child-centric activities Library & Reading Program – Varitra focuses on strengthening reading and language skills among children through its reading program. Varitra has built 20 libraries over the past three years and we aim to add 80 more libraries in the coming three years. Our key activities under ‘Build a Library’ focusses on – providing access to multi-lingual books, weekly reading sessions for primary-level classes, language-learning activities and behavioural change sessions School Infrastructure Transformation: Varitra Foundation has undertaken BALA painting in 10 schools in the past three years. Additionally, Varitra is an active advocacy partner to District Administration, Karnal on school-building renovation, playground building by MNREGA in collaboration with BDO, resource support from Village Panchayat and construction of toilets and new classrooms through the support of CSR foundations & community donors Digital Education Platforms: Varitra launched E-Paathan in April 2020 which is an open platform for learning resources using common larger mediums (like YouTube/Facebook). These resources are also disseminated to rural schools in association with existing government communication channels with the school leadership and staff. Varitra is working on digitalising libraries this year rural government schools which in addition to transforming reading and knowledge-building among rural students can also be developed into smart classrooms Offline learning kits: During covid-19, Varitra has provided offline learning kits comprising subject workbooks, stationery and drawing material to 3000 children across 28 villages
