  • Conservation & Livelihoods Programme

    Kalpavriksh is dedicated to the conservation of biological diversity and the livelihoods of communities dependent on it. It believes in the intrinsic value of biodiversity and its vital role in providing ecological, livelihood, and cultural security. In the face of global challenges like climate change and resource exploitation, Kalpavriksh advocates for an integrated approach that harmonizes conservation, cultural preservation, and sustainable livelihoods across landscapes. Its work spans research, documentation, advocacy, and inclusive governance of protected areas and Community Conserved Areas (CCAs). It actively engages with legislation like the Forest Rights Act and Wildlife Protection Act to support community-based conservation and strives to create an enabling environment where communities can balance their livelihoods with ecological security while fostering a change in societal and Governmental attitudes.
