Programs

  • CHAHA Project

The CHAHA Project, initiated by an alliance with JKWS, aims to provide comprehensive support to children living with HIV/AIDS (CLHIV/CAA) aged 0-18 years in Visakhapatnam District. Since its inception in July 2007, the project has identified and registered 1050 CLHIV/CAA in various mandals. Assistance includes health and medical care, educational support, children's support groups, psycho-social support, income generation programs, nutritional support, and household aid. Notable outcomes include increased ART drug adherence, improved health among young CLHIV/CAA, access to government benefits, and positive community engagement. Additionally, a thorough social audit conducted in 2009 confirmed the program's effective utilization of funds and positive impact on beneficiaries. As the program phases out, stakeholders are being sensitized to sustain its achievements and support structures.

  • Social Forestry Programme

Janakalyan Welfare Society's Social Forestry Programme, funded by ITC's Corporate Social Responsibility, commenced in April 2008 and remains ongoing. Operating in 25 mandals across East Godavari, West Godavari, and Visakhapatnam districts, it aims to promote Eucalyptus and Casuarina plantation as an alternative livelihood for rural communities, particularly small and marginal tribal and weaker section farmers. Through participatory methods and capacity building, it fosters awareness, provides training, and facilitates market linkages for farmers. The programme has resulted in substantial achievements, including the planting of thousands of acres of clonal trees and the provision of loans for Casuarina seedling plantation, empowering farmers economically and environmentally.
