The Centre for Equity and Quality in Universal Education (CEQUE) acknowledges the crucial role teachers play in student learning, especially in India Read morewhere teaching quality remains a challenge. Take Jiya, a 9-year-old from a farming family in Musarne village. Her teacher, Pinesh Jadhav, sees firsthand the struggles of students like Jiya, who come from tribal communities facing poverty and illiteracy. Despite the hardships, parents like Jiya's work hard to support their children's education, emphasizing its importance in breaking the cycle of poverty. However, Jiya's story reflects a broader issue in India: many children lack basic reading and math skills, hindering their future opportunities. CEQUE recognizes the significant impact teachers have on student outcomes and aims to address the deficiency in teacher quality through comprehensive learning experiences. Despite challenges, CEQUE remains committed to ensuring every child receives the education they deserve by empowering teachers with the knowledge and tools necessary to improve teaching practices and ultimately student learning outcomes.
