Kiara Empowering Futures Foundation is the result of two strong women Dolly Machado and Rose D’Souza, who impacted the lives of many. They were: Read more ▪ Philanthropic ▪ Fought for equality and equal rights. ▪ Gave with no motive to receive or gain. We, their children wish to continue their legacy through Kiara. Vision and Vision ▪ Creating sustainable development programs to empower the next generation to achieve goals that were felt beyond their reach. ▪ Empowering underprivileged children to face and overcome challenges and help build a bright future for themselves by encouraging them to be assertive & have a voice of their own. ▪ Build a network of friends and ambassadors who will help us build and sustain our work for years to come Who we are: ▪ Kiara Empowering Futures Foundation is a registered Non-Profit Company under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013. ▪ The goals are to empower a selected group of children through education and through the development of social & life skills ▪ We will do this through providing grants, scholarships and partnering with organizations who need our support and have our ethos and can help us demonstrate measurable impact and outcomes which change lives Project A - Empowering HIV Positive girls - Malad · Working with Desire Society and looking after the education of the 30 girls in the orphanage. It entitles Payment of fees, books, stationery etc. · Conducting study classes so that the children are given extra help as most of them are lacking behind the current academic year. · Conducting English speaking classes as English communication is the need of the hour. · Extra-curricular activities that include training and workshops in yoga, sports, art and craft and dance. · Providing Counselling to the children on an ongoing basis. Project B – Empowering children at the fisherman’s colony Madh island. · We are working with around 30 children from the fisherman's colony at Madhisland. Education is the main focus and our goal is to first ensure that every child is not denied education. · Our first step is to reinstate the dropouts in the schools as a lot of families have been badly affected by the pandemic and lost their source of income. · Running study classes for the children so that they are able to cope. · Conduct extracurricular activities like sports, yoga and art and craft Conduct awareness programs on health and hygiene. Conduct periodical medical checkups of children. Conduct workshops on the mental health of children with the assistance of counsellors and psychologists. Conduct parenting workshops. Conduct nutrition workshops w.r.t. good health and immunity. Project C - Working with children of leprosy and TB affected Patients – Malavani Malad · Education is the main focus. We have adopted around 30 children, to begin with, and we will look after the sponsorship of fees, books, and other provisions for schools. · Provide tuition classes to all the children and have them set goals for themselves and get them to work towards them. · Extracurricular activities like sports, yoga and dance. Conduct awareness programs on health and hygiene. Conduct periodical medical checkups of children. Conduct workshops on the mental health of children with the assistance of counsellors and psychologists. Conduct parenting workshops. Conduct nutrition workshops w.r.t. good health and immunity. Project D- After Care Juvenile kids at Tarun Sadan, Vashi along with Healing Dove Foundation Vashi - 35 inmates · Giving these boys a second chance at life through education and overall development. · Conducting various programs on mental health so that the individual is able to cope with real life · Assist them with providing the skills necessary to secure jobs. · Extracurricular activities like yoga and sports. · Providing Counselling and mentorship to each of these individuals · Ensure that they get internship programs before they are placed. All the above programs will also include ▪ Training programs under social action to create a safe environment for vulnerable children who could be potential victims of violence and abuse. ▪ Counselling cell which addresses mental issues of the children. ▪ Programs and workshops for adolescents to face the real world. ▪ Sex Education (self-awareness, personal hygiene, responsibility towards society and recognizing and calling out sexual predators/abusers) ▪ Do’s & Don’ts while using social media.
