Social Shapes Foundation is a non-profit working with adolescents and youth (10-24 years) from rural low-income families who, due to the conditions th Read moreey inherit, are often unable to explore their hopes, dreams and aspirations. Enabling an honest chance for them to succeed, we provide them accurate and timely information, guidance and coaching in life skills, and mentorship to improve their access to quality education and livelihood opportunities. We provide them "Vikalp - the power of having a choice". Through this journey full of colourful activities and interactions, our local coaches help them make informed decisions toward improved life outcomes.

Vikalp, which translates to "choices," is a technology-driven coaching and mentorship initiative tailored for rural adolescents and youth aged between 10 and 24. Implemented through a network of proficient local coaches, the program empowers participants to discover, pursue, and actualize their aspirations. It achieves this by offering exposure, knowledge, and training in essential life skills, preparing them for a successful transition into economically productive adulthood in today's digital era.

Aspirations Index: Measure the Aspirations Ecosystem
The Aspirations Ecosystem encompasses both tangible and intangible factors present in a child's environment, which significantly shape their ability to aspire and consequently impact their educational, employment, and life outcomes.
Drawing upon Amartya Sen's Capability Approach, the Aspirations Index serves as an econometric framework designed to gauge the aspirational capacity of individuals aged 10 to 24 in India. At the state level, this Index aims to evaluate and quantify the presence and efficacy of the Aspirations Ecosystem, providing insights into its existence and effectiveness.
