Stripes and Green Earth Foundation, also known as SAGE, is an organization founded by a passionate couple with a deep love for wildlife and nature. SA Read moreGE is dedicated to preserving the delicate balance of ecosystems and protecting the animals that inhabit them. The name "Stripes" symbolizes the tiger, a vital keystone species crucial for maintaining the balance of the food chain. Meanwhile, "Green Earth" represents the broader environment, particularly the importance of preserving jungles and natural habitats. SAGE aims to embody the harmony between humans and nature, striving for a noble coexistence. SAGE's roots were planted in the landscapes of central India and have since grown, gathering like-minded professionals from diverse backgrounds in Kolkata. Together, they share a common goal: to safeguard nature and its inhabitants. SAGE believes in empowering local communities, especially those living on the fringes of jungles, as key conservationists. By working alongside these communities, SAGE seeks to improve their socio-economic conditions and protect their surrounding environment. Their projects range from environmental initiatives such as tree plantations to delivering healthcare services to rural areas. Additionally, SAGE focuses on mitigating human-wildlife conflicts, raising awareness among rural communities, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and supporting the creation of critical habitats and corridors for endangered species like tigers.

Workshop & Training Session
The organisation conducted workshops and training sessions aimed at addressing human-elephant conflicts in areas surrounding the Sanjay Tiger Reserve. Activities involved educating participants on elephant identification, behaviour, and conflict management, along with raising awareness in nearby villages. The training covered various techniques, including the use of torches with chilli and tobacco powder to drive elephants away from human settlements. Mangrove Plantation Drive
In collaboration with local villagers, Stripes and Green Earth Foundation initiated a mangrove plantation drive in the Sundarban region, particularly targeting the vulnerable village of Deulbari in Kultoli Block, heavily impacted by Cyclone Amphan. Recognizing the absence of mangroves along the river Matla, which leaves the village susceptible to cyclones, the organization planted native mangrove species such as Sundari, Garain, Kakra, Garjan, and Bain along a 2 km stretch of the riverbank. The villagers, led by Mr. Madan Baidya, played a crucial role in collecting and planting a total of 18,000 pods and saplings, with support from local forest authorities. This initiative aims to enhance the resilience of the village and protect it from future cyclonic events.
