Peace Trust is a legally registered Non-Governmental Organization established in 1984 in Dindigul District in promoting environmentally sound, equita Read moreble and sustainable development strategies. Child Rights, Sustainable Development, Women Empowerment and Rural Livelihood Development are the focus areas of Peace Trust. Peace Trust implements programmes through grass root level interventions in two major Districts of Tamil Nadu, namely Dindigul and Nagapattinam Districts. It implements programmes through networking strategies all over Tamil Nadu and maintains a cordial and coincident relationship with all its stakeholders. Peace Trust has been commended as an agency for successfully initiating mass movements in universal development issues such as child rights, ecological rights, migrant workers' rights and their issues, women's rights and community development through mass media. Over the years it had developed a commendable rapport with the local people, trade unions, NGOs, political leaders and Government officials for the successful implementation of its targeted programmes. VISION To create an environment free from ignorance and exploitation by promoting equal opportunities for vulnerable, marginalized and poor people, especially women and children and to ensure sustainable development at all levels. MISSION CHILD RIGHTS To protect promote the rights of the children against exploitations and abuses particularly sexual abuses and enhancing their learning through formal and alternate education and by ensuring a child-friendly society. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION To protect the environment and help in the preservation of natural resources by educating the community on minimizing the resource-usage and on proper utilization and recycling of available resources to meet the developmental needs and for achieving sustainable development. LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT To ensure livelihood options for the marginalized and poor through access to credit, awareness on health and hygiene and natural resource management in drought prone areas by conserving soil and water effectively and helping migrant labourers. Special focus for vulnerable and poor youth for skill development and gainful employment is one of mission of Peace Trust. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT To empower women by forming them into self-help groups, promoting micro enterprises and equipping them with comprehensive and conducive knowledge on governance, immoral trafficking, HIV/AIDS, Health of nutrition on usher in an integrated and wholesome development.
