TIDE is a start-up educational reforms organization founded in November 2014 that aims to bring about a sustainable change in the educational system. Read moreAs of August 2023, we have impacted the lives of 36,500+ individuals. We have multiple programs that work with different aspects of education though follow a similar guideline i.e. work on high impact projects, with the aim to create a system that resolves the root cause in a span of 15 years.

Programs

EmpowerEd
EmpowerEd seeks to support building teachers’ capacities, practices, and identities in ways that facilitate social justice for all students. We aim to develop a tech driven, bottom-up, collaborative intervention that helps empower teachers.
Current projects: 1) building communities of teachers that support each other- we currently work with holistic educators from across the country; 2) creating means for sharing best classroom practices facilitating peer to peer learning; and 3) develop an immersive app for teachers to explore the lives of their students.
Total teachers worked with: 199 educators. -
Block Education Transformation Initiative
The program works towards bringing about holistic development in schools by working with the teachers, students, administration, and parents.
Current project: we are building a model for reforming blocks of rural government schools. We are currently piloting a series of interventions (holistic foundational learning, activity-based STEM education, life skills education, counselling, building as learning aids, and teacher empowerment) across 10 rural government schools and aim to scale this to 110 schools over the next 5 years.
Past projects: holistic development classes for children, a whole school improvement program that brought about education of the heart, education of the mind, and empowered schools, self and peer directed learning resource, and a teacher capacity development program.
Number of schools worked with: 126 schools
Total people catered to: 29,402 children, their parents and 448 teachers. -
BetterEd
BetterEd works towards providing basic life skills education and activity-based STEM education alongwith shared focus on nutrition, hygiene, self-confidence to under-resourced urban schools, slums, and orphanages.
Current projects: we run application, interdisciplinary, and project-based life skills education alongwith activity-based STEM education across 11 schools. We are currently developing a volunteer-driven system that can be scaled to 100s of urban schools in the next 5 years.
Past projects: Weekend life skills classes, special support for children with special needs, and daily tuition classes that used value-based learning to bring about holistic development, soft skills, literacy and numeracy.
Number of sites: 21 schools, 12 slums, 5 orphanages, and 1 village
Total children catered to: 2,707 children -
CompletEd
CompletEd works to bring about holistic education in premier institutions. Projects focus on promoting social awareness, social entrepreneurship, social emotional learning, critical, divergent, creative thinking, and application-based learning. We target middle school, high school, and college-going students to bring about an all-round development.
Current projects: we run a series of 4 projects: 1) developing a culture of individual social responsibility by engaging middle school students in workshops on issues of social justice; 2) training, mentoring, and supporting students to set up their own social initiatives through a social changemakers fellowship; 3) immersing students in grassroots level work through internship and volunteering opportunities; and 4) questioning and rethinking the purpose of education through a series of public exhibitions that forefront student voice.
Past projects: public talk series recreating a culture of dialogue, independent thinking skills’ workshops
Milestones & Track Record
Key milestones include launching the EmpowerEd program to develop teacher communities of practice, creating a mobile app to support teacher development, and implementing projects across multiple states in India.
