Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society was established in 1998 to provide appropriate treatment to Thalassemia patients with the objective of adding year Read mores to their lives and improve their quality of life. The organization has a humble start with just 20 patients at Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, and when the number grew it became hard for us to accommodate a larger group of patients. Today, more than 2780 children have benefited from our efforts. Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Society is the only place in Telangana & Andhra Pradesh wherein a transfusion centre with an attached blood bank is managing the treatment of Thalassemia & Sickle Cell anemia in Hyderabad. Their laboratory facility is recognised by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India since 2014. Their objective is to increase the life expectancy and enhance the quality of lives of all of those 2780 patients registered with the society. Services to Thalassemia patients including provision of saline washed blood and medical check up are free. The society also conducts awareness campaigns and activities on prevention programmes in the community.

StateIt is an extremely unpleasant and mentally taxing experience to raise a child with Thalassemia. The family and parents require a solid emotional safety net. The Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Society has been a source of strength for parents and other family members for the past 24 years. Through its initiatives and events, the group has been effective in instilling hope in its constituents.
Genetic Guidance
The group conducts screening programmes to determine a person's thalassemia status with the help of foundations and organisations that share its goals. More than a thousand school-age children have undergone screening for thalassemia and sickle cell disease at various schools, as of this writing. -
Aarogyasri Scheme
StateTSCS is implementing a novel community health insurance scheme called the Aarogyasri Scheme. The primary programme of the State Government's health efforts, Aarogyasri aims to give the underprivileged access to high-quality medical care.
Families with white cards who are below the poverty line can receive financial assistance under the scheme of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per year for the treatment of their children affected by thalassemia. The program's goal is to increase the availability of high-quality medical care for Thalassemia disease treatment for families living below the poverty line. This care will be provided by Kamala Hospital & Research Centre (KHRC), a unit of TSCS, and will involve hospital stays, operations, and therapies.
This programme is a useful example of how low-income households can get high-quality healthcare without using cash.
