ShantiBhavan was established in 1997 as a residential school exclusively for children from the poorest families in India. After a successful career in Read more the United States, Dr. Abraham George returned to India to establish Shanti Bhavan, meaning “Haven of Peace” in Hindi, for children who would have otherwise had very few opportunities. We subscribe to the proposition that the most effective way of uplifting the poor is through high quality and holistic education. Motivated by the belief that all children, regardless of caste or circumstance, deserve a chance at an excellent education. We work tirelessly to accomplish this at Shanti Bhavan. Each year, new students are recruited from neighbouring states. Shanti Bhavan currently serves 338 children and cares for their comprehensive needs. In addition to the children studying at our residential campus, we support our graduates at top colleges in Bangalore. A few batches have now graduated from college and have taken up starting positions at top companies Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Ernst & Young, Mercedes Benz, Deloitte, Capgemini, and others.
