NLR India is a non-profit, non-religious, non-governmental organization registered as a public charitable trust as per the Indian Trust Act in 1999 Read moreand is working in 129 districts of 7 states of the country, namely, Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal . NLR India received its Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) clearance in the year 2004. The foundation has also received tax exemption under section 80G of the IT Act, 1961. NLR India works for persons and families affected by leprosy, other NTDs and persons with disabilities. The foundation has a track record of serving the leprosy cause since 1999. NLR India’s three strategic programmes: Zero Transmission , Zero Disability , and Zero Exclusion restructured our priority programmes to deal with leprosy and its consequences -          Zero Transmission programme aims to reduce the transmission of the leprosy bacteria -          Zero Disability programme aims to prevent persons affected by leprosy from developing new disabilities during or after treatment -          Zero Exclusion programme aims to improve the lives of persons with disabilities due to leprosy by enabling access to services and participation in community activities

    NLR India Foundation has been dedicatedly supporting youths for skill development through various vocational training courses across different states of India. The primary focus is on empowering youths affected by leprosy, their dependents, and individuals with disabilities. Among the most sought-after vocational training courses attended by a large number of youths in various states are Diesel Mechanism, Motor Mechanics, Tailoring, Beautician, Motor Driving, Electrician, and Painting & Decoration.

    NLR India Foundation has successfully facilitated the connection of these youths with training centers offering these courses. Additionally, NLRIF has received support from other training partners to enhance skill development in areas such as motor mechanics, motor driving, and hotel management. It is noteworthy that a significant majority of youths trained by NLR India Foundation have secured gainful employment with rewarding benefits.
