Since
1985
Initially established as a Charitable Public Trust and Society approved by the Charity Commissioner in Mumbai, IDF (Indian Development Foundation), fo Read morermerly known as the Indian Leprosy Foundation, commenced its journey with modest beginnings, devoid of office space, staff, or financial resources. Maintaining self-sufficiency, IDF has refrained from seeking Governmental grants or support from major international donor agencies, sustaining its objectives through contributions from various segments of the public. Over time, IDF has grown into a prominent NGO within India's healthcare landscape, demonstrating resilience and dedication. It collaborates with both Central and State Governments as well as Municipal Corporations on initiatives such as the National Leprosy Elimination and TB Control Programs. By involving hundreds of thousands of students and citizens, IDF raises awareness about leprosy and TB while mobilizing resources. Since 2012, the organization has held Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council, aspiring to become a key knowledge and implementation partner for schools, NGOs, corporations, and Government entities nationwide. Expanding its mission beyond healthcare, IDF now encompasses education and development, focusing on Government-identified priority areas like health education seminars, education for underprivileged children, and programs for women's empowerment.
