Goal : Language And Learning Foundation was founded in 2015 with the goal of improving language learning outcomes of children in grades 1 to 3 in-home Read more and school languages by working in collaboration with state governments. Objective: To reach this goal, LLF works towards the following three objectives - Developing capacity in the public education ecosystem to implement and sustain high-quality interventions in early literacy/multilingual education at scale. Enhancing the priority and commitment of state governments for improving language and literacy instruction. Persuading governments to include children’s first languages (L1) in the formal learning and teaching process through bi/multilingual approaches. Mission : By 2023, influence classroom practices of 8,00,000 teachers and teacher educators in collaboration with State Governments. This will potentially benefit the learning experiences of 30 million children. We work with the government education system, and at a reasonable scale, to foster change that is sustainable. We are currently working in 7 Indian states including Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Gujrat and Bihar where we have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the State Governments. Over the past 5 years, LLF has been able to benefit 1,43,781 teachers and teacher educators and 9,60,931 children across the country.

    State

    LLF is the technical partner for Early language and literacy in the Gujarat Education Coalition (GEC) aimed to strengthen the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy in government schools of Gujarat. LLF is supporting the Department of Education (DoE), Gujarat Council for Education Research and Training (GCERT) in revising the content of grades 1 and 2 keeping the principles of Early Language and Literacy in focus. GEC (Gujarat Education Coalition) is the coalition of four partner organizations (Central Square Foundation, Reach to Teach, Akshara Foundation, and LLF) working with the Gujarat govt. Education Department with the objective to improve the Foundation Literacy and Numeracy across the state in govt. schools. In 2019, LLF partnered as one of the technical partner for language pedagogy, content development, training and classroom observation under the GEC for the Foundation Literacy.
