Autism Society West Bengal (ASWB) is a parent-supported not for profit organization, formed in late 2002 that champion the right of individuals wit Read moreh Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to participate in areas of education, employment, and social events. Our activity focuses on the inclusion of individuals with autism across their life span. We provide support to 150/200 individuals with Autism and their families per year through different intervention programmes, occupational therapy, workshops, seminars, awareness and advocacy. ASWB uses evidence-based strategies in training and educational methods viz ABA, TEAACH. Our aim is to provide a supportive, social environment where persons with Autism are understood and their right to participation upheld and also to enable them, their families to participate in developing strategies to improve their quality of life; optimize their strength through education, advocacy and support. Services provided by Autism Society West Bengal : Consultancy & Counseling – For individuals with their families to understand about Autism Assessment – To assess individuals in order to improve their competencies. ASPIRES - A Parent with child training Unit. Dikshan – School for students with autism. Early Intervention - A school readiness program for children. Hourly Intervention Program - For individuals who are unable to attend our special school. Pre-vocational and vocational training programs – For young adults to learn new skills and making productive use of the skills by baking, making handicrafts, bags, jewellery, greeting card and notebooks etc. Occupational Therapy – to improve motor coordination, overcome sensory issues in order to help them develop meaningful activities of life. Providing Support to Mainstream school – We provide support to individuals attending mainstream school as well as mainstream schools so that they can provide the necessary support to individuals with Autism. Soft Skill Training – The training program for young adults in order to find gainful engagement and employment. Awareness programs – We collaborate, participate and conduct different cultural events which are inclusive in nature. Workshops - To share our knowledge and expertise with parents and other professionals and also to learn from eminent resource persons. YAAR (YOUNG ADULTS WITH AUTISM REACH OUT) – A social club for young adults to reach out to their peers and interact with them. Special Events and Concerts – Organizing art exhibitions, flash mob dance, fundraising events, annual concerts etc Diploma In Special Education( ASD) – We have been also running D.Ed in (ASD) since 2016. Networking with other organizations – We network and work with different organizations working in this field on state and national level. Working with Keystone Institute India - ASWB has worked with Keystone India and has implemented many Social Role Valorisation (SRV) techniques in our work. We have employed two individuals with autism and worked on their social skills over the years
