NIVASA is a Design Social Venture specializing in contextual design consulting for housing and other building typologies for the underserved segment. Read moreOur goal is to redefine and transform the rural and the urban landscape through sustainable design interventions that are culturally appropriate and strengthen the local ecosystem through adaptation of local skills and technology as catalysts for social change. We interact with local communities, collaborate with the Government, NGOs, Developers, contractors, corporates and individuals, engage the Architectural community in R&D of alternative materials and construction methodologies and volunteerism, derive specific, local and cost-effective designs to arrive at strategies for implementation that involves awareness & training, constructing prototypes, and helping to construct, where required.

Nivasa uses Design-Based Thinking and a People-Centered approach, involving homeowners in the decision-making process and collaborating with various stakeholders to create cost-effective, site-specific, and eco-friendly housing solutions.

Anganwadi construction
The anganwadi in Kethenahalli, currently housed in a travelers' dormitory, lacked essential facilities such as a dedicated kitchen, separate play area, adequate ventilation, and storage space. The newly constructed anganwadi, situated overlooking the picturesque arali katte with three trees, provides an improved environment. Windows facing the road facilitate interaction between the village and the anganwadi, while the women's room offers privacy for mothers and expectant mothers. We anticipate exciting interactions between the children and the anganwadi in this new setting.
