It extends services to those requiring special care, promising them a life filled with dignity and joy. Dedicated to providing high-quality services, it operates day care and residential shelter homes catering to individuals with special needs, encompassing both mental and physical challenges. Established in 2003, Sangopita is a registered NGO under the Bombay Public Charitable Trust. Initially serving just two children, the organization has grown to care for over 60 beneficiaries across two centers. It holds registrations under Section 12-A and 80 G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, as well as the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010. Over the past 16 years, the steadfast efforts have garnered recognition from various corporations that have generously supported the projects. Sangopita exemplifies a nurturing and engaged parenting approach, where every member is guided to achieve their maximum potential while being treated with utmost dignity. The organization provides lifelong residential care to individuals facing physical, mental, and sensory impairments, including those with Autism. The focus extends to individuals from the lower socio-economic and impoverished strata of society. In addition to residential care in Bendshil village, Sangopita operates a Day Care center and special school for the physically and mentally impaired in Badlapur, near Mumbai. The services provided by Sangopita encompass: 1. Affectionate caregiving: Trained caregivers offer around-the-clock assistance, ensuring the well-being of the children and addressing their needs. 2. Special education: Educators employ multimedia tools to teach children at their individual pace, fostering a customized learning experience. 3. Welfare centre for mentally retarded children: The rehabilitation centre is equipped with specialized facilities catering to the needs of mentally retarded children. 4. Medical unit: A dedicated medical unit monitors the physical health of the individuals, provides training in personal hygiene, and attends to minor ailments under the care of trained medical staff. 5. Therapy centre: Qualified professionals conduct regular sessions in physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy to enhance the overall well-being of the beneficiaries. 6. Vocational training: Special needs adults are actively engaged and trained in the creation of various products such as candles, incense sticks, and greeting cards, promoting vocational skills and independence.
