Situations tell something else, women, children who are more than half the population of the country are still deprived of their rights. Even after a prolonged period of democracy started in the country, there is a big difference in the democratic life and real life of the common citizen. The country's very large population is still completely deprived of rights in its development. Although there is a very broad line of the underprivileged in the country, but if the deprived are seen even among the deprived, then it is the class of women and children whose rights are violated by them who are deprived themselves also. Poverty, Lack of awareness; discrimination on basis of gender, race, age, religion, class, cast in different sectors; absent or inactive basic facilities, collapse structural facilities, none employment opportunities are still present in various part of India due to poor political will and other circumstances. Weakest section of community, women and children mostly affected due to discrimination. Feticides of female child, decreasing sex ratio, trafficking of adolescent girls and women, early age marriage and many other violations heard and read through media. All above situations induce some youth to do something offbeat and group emerge named CARD. “Creative Attempts in Rural Development Society” acronym CARD is a not-for-profit organization working since 1999; with a commitment to work with marginalized sections of the society and to bring them attain dignified quality life. CARD emerged in 1998 and get registration under society registration act 1860 in 1999. Since emergence organization is working for community with community on public concern issues. During working for more than 19 years organization been get membership of deferent likeminded network and authorities; like SAROKAR (A network of NGO’s, working for rights), CBATN (Cross Border Anti trafficking Network), JAGO RE (Campaign for proper implementation of DV Act), EK SATH and DLSA (District Legal Service Authority) Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand). Empowerment of children’s, adolescent and women’s and ensure their rights are our core issues. We started work with support of CRY (Child relief and you) and continue this partnership for ten years. CARD organizes programs for anti human trafficking in bordering area of India and Nepal, with support of ATSEC (Anti Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children’s) and CBATN. CARD actively participated as a member of country wide movement “We CAN” - end violence against Women. We make dialogue with administration of five district of KUMON division of Uttarakhand regarding proper implementation of DV Act 2005. Natural calamity of June 2013 badly affected many river banks of uttarakhand CARD involved in relief, rehabilitation and restore livelihood of disaster affacted community. We are working with Habitat for Humanity India (HFHI) since 2013. From 2013 to 2015 we work together in relief and rehabilitation of affected community of Himalayan Tsunami (Kedarnath Disaster) in District Pithoragarh. We serve victims of disaster, provided them medical help, sanitation facilities and shelter’s. Since 2015-16 CARD is working for Zero trafficking, under this program we are trying to prevent vulnerable children’s and adolescents, providing shelter to victims, rehabilitation and reintegration in community of victims. Protective & Rehabilitation Home for trafficking and Pocso victims is driven by organisation in district Pithoragarh, at present 15 victims living in home. Organisation is under pressure of fund crises. Sanitation and housing along with Behavioral Change Communication programs supported by HFHI, Empowerment of Panchayati raj institutes through training of staff and public representatives, EK SATH campaign (men’s participation to end gender discrimination) with Support of Vimarsh Nainital /CHSJ Delhi, and organizing legal camps with DLSA. Anti human trafficking in bordering area of India and Nepal
With assistance from CBATN and ATSEC (Anti Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children), there is a campaign against human trafficking in the bordering regions of India and Nepal. Over its more than 19 years of operation, the organisation has gained membership in several like-minded networks and authorities, including DLSA (District Legal Service Authority) Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand), EK SATH, CBATN (Cross Border Anti Trafficking Network), JAGO RE (Campaign for Proper Implementation of DV Act), and SAROKAR (A network of NGO's working for rights).
