The Rural Development Council (RDC) operates in Denkanikottai Taluk, Krishnagiri district, and Walajabad, Kancheepuram, focusing on empowering histori Read morecally marginalized Adivasi and Dalit communities. These communities have suffered due to exploitative mainstream practices affecting their symbiotic relationship with forests and sustainable livelihoods. RDC primarily works in 120 remote, hilly villages among the Irula Tribes, focusing on women and children who lack access to traditional resources and rights, in areas previously untouched by development initiatives. Comprising activists dedicated to social justice, RDC aims to bring lasting change to the living conditions of vulnerable communities. Through mass mobilization and organizing into village-level "Grama Sangams," RDC facilitates collective action to address issues of dignity, identity, and livelihood entitlements. The organization responds to social, political, cultural, and economic injustices faced by Adivasi and Dalit communities, leveraging years of ground-level engagement and activism to drive social transformation.
