In Government schools so that the children can benefit from the basic necessities often taken for granted by the rest of the world. The programs of Pr Read moreoject 511 are broadly classified into infrastructure building and competency building. Infrastructure building covers construction of toilets and providing blackboards and seating to all classrooms. Competency building covers providing the schools with science labs and teaching and learning kits. Project 511 is currently working with 1022 schools and has benefited over 2,00,000 students. Our geographic reach extends from Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal, Sangareddy and Vikarabad districts. Hyderabad Round Table 8 is a member of Round Table India (RTI) - a fellowship and community service organisation. One of the oldest and most active organisations in the country, the RTI initiated the Freedom through Education campaign in the early 2000s with the vision to put 1 million children, who would have otherwise stayed illiterate, in schools. RTI has built over 600 schools in India, of which 40 schools have been built in Hyderabad. A few of our infrastructure projects are listed below. Operation Blackboard Education for every child begins on a blackboard. Yet, most schools either lack this most basic medium of education or require repairing. We, at Project 511, refurbish existing blackboards by repairing and painting them and furnish new ones in classrooms that don’t have any. 6809 blackboards in 829 schools. Operation Sanitation A hygienic lavatory is as important for a school as an equipped classroom. The truth, however, is very different in Government schools. In most schools, students and teachers go without any toilet facility for more than 6 hours. Under Operation Sanitation we construct separate toilet facilities for boys and girls and until now have constructed or repaired toilets in more than 93 schools, covering 461 units. Operation Seating Lack of benches in classrooms force children to sit in uncomfortable and unhygienic conditions. Sitting on the floor for several hours at a stretch also leads to neck aches, short attention span and bad posture. To make education a convenience instead of discomfort, we introduced Operation Seating. Under this, we provide desks for children to sit and write on. 363 schools 19045 dual desks supplied so far. Additional class rooms Project 511, in 80-20 partnership with SSA, has constructed 16 school buildings and 80 class rooms so far.

Programs

  • School Building Construction

We have observed several classes taking place in the same room at once in certain government schools. There just aren't enough classrooms to accommodate every class that is being taught. Light-filled, spacious classrooms increase children's ability to focus, pay attention, and assimilate the material being taught to them.

Since 1980, Hyderabad Round Table 8, which oversees Project 511, has been constructing schools and extra classrooms. This school building project was placed under Project 511's oversight once it was launched. Twenty schools and more classes have been built thus far. On an 80/20 basis, this programme is carried out in collaboration with Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA).

  • Operation Seating

When there aren't any benches in the classroom, kids have to sit in uncomfortable and unclean situations. In addition, neck pain, poor posture, and a limited attention span are caused by spending extended periods sitting on the floor. Operation Seating was initiated by Project 511 to enable the kids to sit comfortably and concentrate on their studies without being distracted by their physical discomfort. Project 511 has so far given more than 29,196 dual desks to 651 schools as part of this programme.
