Since
1999
Cross Blood Foundation, (CBF) a registered charitable trust, was started in 1999 with a vision to help people in need of blood. Hemnath was a happy fi Read moreve year old until tragedy struck in 1993. He was diagnosed with leukemia. Mrs. & Mr.N.L. Hari Haran were shattered. Hemnath was their first son. He succumbed to the disease. But the disease came as a "blessing in disguise" as the seed for Cross Blood Foundation was sown through this. CBF is involved in giving shared care services to children who are being treated for blood cancer and other hematological and oncological problems in Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children, Egmore and also other hospitals for almost 20 years. Periodical blood donation camps are conducted in various places to meet the demands of blood components for the children who are getting treatment in various hospitals. The foundation also helps in donating certain drugs for treating children with leukaemia and other blood disorders, as and when required. The foundation provides financial assistance for children with thalassemia and leukemia for medical and educational purposes.

Blood bank
The Blood Bank Cross Blood Foundation strongly believes that establishing an indigenous blood bank would offer a sustainable solution in the long term. This initiative aims to bolster our capacity to stock various blood types efficiently. Additionally, implementing a mobile blood bank would address the challenge of sourcing blood from corporates, especially in areas lacking proper infrastructure for donor accommodations. The combined cost for both projects is estimated at around 2.5 crores. Our primary objective for 2016 is to raise the necessary funds to realize both the blood bank and mobile blood bank, overcoming this significant challenge and making them a reality.

In line with the global shift towards online platforms, we are introducing a new generation of inclusion by offering cancer awareness merchandise and handicrafts created by cancer-affected individuals, self-help groups (SHGs), and disadvantaged women. These unique products showcase ethnic craftsmanship and hold significant potential value in the European and American markets. Securing a fair trade certificate will further enhance their appeal and marketability.
