These efforts provid Read moree chances for people, regardless of disabilities, to experience the excitement and camaraderie unique to sports. Outdoor activities and partnerships not only aim to raise awareness for individuals with disabilities but also strive to create a culture of openness, understanding, and compassion. The main goals focus on dispelling misunderstandings about disability due to lack of knowledge and promoting the belief that the thrill of adventure transcends physical limitations. ABBF aims to build an inclusive world for people with and without disabilities. This involves organising outdoor sports to encourage discussion, foster empathy, educate on equal opportunities, develop life skills, and promote employment. Since its inception, it has positively impacted over 5,000 Persons with Disabilities and 200,000 able-bodied individuals through five areas: marathons, trekking/mountaineering, tandem cycling, paragliding, and scuba diving, establishing itself as a leading force in global inclusive adventure sports.

Help a Child Walk
In partnership with Rayrise Design Lab in Bangalore, ABBF collaborates as a delivery partner to offer bionics for special needs children from low-income backgrounds. Rise Bionics, operating through local special education schools in Bengaluru, aims to provide prosthetic legs, spinal braces, leg braces, gaiters, and more to over 1000 children facing disabilities like cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, amputation, nerve paralysis, among others. This initiative seeks to address the specific needs of these children, enhancing their mobility and overall well-being.

Pinkathon Women's Marathon Pune
The annual Pinkathon is a prominent all-women's race where ABBF's visually impaired runners actively participate alongside their sighted allies. This significant event stands as India's largest women's run, focusing on raising awareness about women's health issues, with a particular emphasis on breast cancer. Pinkathon serves as a platform to inspire women to integrate health and fitness into their daily routines through the empowering act of running. The inclusive nature of the event underscores the importance of unity and support in promoting overall well-being.

GYC One Day Trek - Torna
In October 2016, a one-day trek to Torna was organized by GYC, in collaboration with Global Citizen Year, a non-profit based in Oakland. The trek engaged American high school seniors on a gap year programme, emphasizing the importance of global citizenship for future leaders. Participants, including students with disabilities, found the trek enjoyable. Torna, situated 50 km southwest of Pune, stands as the highest fort in the district. The sunny weather didn't deter the group, and the shared experiences during the trek added richness to the journey.

Inclusive trek to Everest Base Camp - Nepal
In May 2016, the inclusive trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal marked a significant effort, especially as it was the first time blind trekkers participated. Renowned as one of the most frequented trekking routes in the Himalayas, the journey to Everest Base Camp on the south side attracts thousands of trekkers annually. This inclusive expedition not only showcased breathtaking landscapes but also emphasized breaking barriers and fostering inclusivity in the realm of trekking adventures.

Mumbai Wall Climbing with Firefox
In November 2017, the Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation, in collaboration with Firefox Bikes and Volunteer4India, held an inclusive wall-climbing event in Mumbai as part of the #EverydayAbility series. Participants, both able-bodied and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), engaged in climbing an artificial wall together, fostering mutual support and interaction. The event aimed to break barriers, showcasing that adventure sports like wall climbing can be inclusive. The multi-difficulty level wall allowed wheelchair users to participate with certain modifications. Simultaneously, a 'Play for Peace' session introduced inclusive and cooperative gaming, promoting camaraderie within the group.
