Indian Documentary Foundation is a not for profit organisation founded in 2011, committed to supporting great documentaries, and connecting them to au Read morediences that matter. We support the Indian community of independent filmmakers, with the singular ambition to help grow a more sustainable and robust ecosystem for independent journalism and documentary film. Why? Because we believe that good documentary journalism enriches the lives of individuals and is an essential part of a healthy democracy. It is a medium which has a unique ability to engage and connect people, transform communities and improve societies. We do this by supporting individual works of landmark journalism through our flagship programs Good Pitch Local and Good Pitch India We also work to connect the best independent storytellers in India to relevant NGOs, foundations, philanthropists, brands, and media around leading social issues. Helping to forge coalitions and campaigns that are good for all these partners. Following a model of radical collaboration, we work to empower cultural organisations, to build their capacity and increase the sustainability and ambition of the documentary community nationally.

Programs

  • Impact Labs

The core of the Good Pitch programme is the Impact Labs. a four-day intensive programme where a small group of filmmakers examines case studies and discusses practical approaches to utilise independent documentaries as a vehicle for environmental or social change.

The chosen filmmakers collaborate with the Good Pitch Outreach team to envision how their movie could support movements and connect with important audiences.

  • Eco Lens

The Indian Documentary Foundation developed Good Pitch India's ECO LENS programme, which will be held in association with our friends at Internews, Earth Journalism Network, and Earth Day Network. On November 9 and 10, 2020, over 100 climate justice activists, media figures, changemakers, environmentalists, academics, policy experts, and corporations will come together for this one-of-a-kind virtual event that will span two days with ½ day sessions. Attendees will see climate narratives from our Good Pitch editions and hear from environmental specialists, funders, solicitors and speakers from various faiths. Coral Woman, Tale of a River, and Jack Journeys are the three principal films that will be screened at the forum.
