Rajalakshmi Charitable Trust, a non-profit organization from Chennai, Tamilnadu, India, was founded with the noble purpose of caring for the less priv Read moreileged. The Trust realizes the deep commitment and sense of responsibility this effort demands. Having served in many charitable organizations for several years, the founders have realized their most cherished dream in “Vasantham Home for the aged” by giving solace to the destitute aged during the autumn of their lives.  The trustees, volunteers and associated members of RCT believe that lives of the elderly can be more purposeful if we can make a change in that of the disadvantaged.  Besides Vasantham home, the trust also supports the education of underprivileged students, rehabilitation and renovation of educational institutions catering to the underprivileged.  Vasantham Home  - This home provides food, shelter, and care for free of cost for the destitute senior citizens. Clean, comfortable environment with the nutritious meals on time, routine medical check, care during emergencies and last rites are all provided for free of cost. Presently there are 12 residents in this home, and many waiting to be accommodated soon as the construction of our own premises is complete.  The trust has purchased land for this purpose and is presently in the process of raising funds to construct 'Vasantham Home' in a manner suitable for the comfortable living of senior citizens. Activities for their entertainment and engagement are also provided to keep them motivated, belonged and peaceful.

  • Educational Support

    The Trust has assisted in providing financial support for numerous students from low-income households to attend school during the past ten years. In addition, the Trust has worked on the following initiatives:
    Restoring a Tribal Welfare School that suffered damage during the 2015 floods in Chennai Along with purchasing books, stationary, a water purifier, and a water tank, thoroughly cleaning the kitchen and restrooms, and giving the entire school building a whitewash, one of the main tasks was constructing the school compound wall.

    2016 saw the reconstruction and establishment of a library and enrichment centre at the Seva Samajam Children's Home. Two of the main tasks of this project included constructing the student library and the enrichment activity hall.

    The Seva Samajam Children's Home has been sponsoring awards for the winners of its annual talent promotion activities since 2016. This sponsorship program is ongoing.
